Addiction
Despite popular belief, addiction is a disease involving the continued use of a substance (i.e., alcohol, drugs, sex, porn, gambling) regardless of serious substance-related consequences such as loss of control over use, health implications, or adverse social implications.
Signs of Addiction:
Loss of control over substance
Having cravings (i.e., strong desire to use substance)
Building tolerance (i.e., needing more of substance to achieve desired affect)
Withdrawal effects
Physical or psychological impairments caused by continuous use
Not fulfilling major obligations at home, work or school
Is everything all that it seems? What if what we thought to be true about addiction was actually wrong…?
